Hello Mike I will be out tomorrow and Sunday so I can give you a better idea of how things will pan out. We have rain in the forcast for today and tomorrow. Hopefully it is not to heavy. I will email the team on Sunday night or Monday and pass along the details. Pre-fishing is permitted on the North end of the river, above the bridge and from the bridge down to 100 meters past the fence. There is no pre- fishing on the venue stretch. This will preserve and hopefully make for a better match. Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Definately lots of fish and you can fish all year, Like any other venue it's a little bit 'peggy', it can produce lots of fish in some pegs and almost nothing in others, when I draw peg 1 I was really happy until I start fishing, I strugled the entire match to get one fish, only last 1/2 hour I caught 2 good carp, but anyways that's match fishing.

Tomas Did you see the look on Mikes face when he won the case of Corn on Sunday. I like to do a draw for a case every match. I have been told it is a great door prize to put up for grabs. Delmonte has always been a favorite among anglers over the years. Glad to have you on board. Thanks for your support on Sunday.

How do you feel about the venue selections for the M.F.C. 2009 season ?? Do you have any suggestions for future venues for M.F.C. Keep in mind that a venue must be easily accessible and must be able to accomodate a minimum of 15-20 anglers.

I elasticated my whip last summer with a N0.6 and realized that I screwed up. I found a site that shows step by step photos for the correct way to elasticate a pole, http://www.maggotdrowning.com/pole/elasticating_a_pole.htm. I do have a question that has been bothering me. The whip is 20', and when I used it as line to hand my line was 17'. Now, When I elasticate the whip properly, what length should my line be?
Thank you Daniel

I have an 11 metre Garbolino Ultra Power with a 1.5 meter extension taking it to 12.5 metres. It comes with 2 X Top 3's #14 Elastic and #10 Elastic and the nylon pole bag. Asking price is $275.00. I also have a 10 metre Garbolino Tangara finesse pole. It comes with the 1 X Top 3 Elasticated with #8-#10 Elastic. Asking price is $150.00 Both poles are elasticated and are a few years old but they areboth in excellent condition. The bullet nose section (4th section) on the ultra power has been re-sleeved at the bullet tip. Let me know if you are interested. Mersey

Can't say I have had that problem with a fish on. I have had the elastic freeze due to the cold. I needed a change of undies that day. I will have to give the dacron a try. I have seen it in articles in the Match Fishing Magazine.

Why ? Ledgering, ledgering tackle and all of its methods will be permitted at matchfishing turnaments. In Europe you can't legering at the matches or can you?

Therewill be no issues. It is just like here. As long as you have a licence and check out the regulations you will be OK.

II like to be prepared every time I fish. I have a certain routine I follow every time I pleasure fish or match fish. With this said there is a certain way that I like to prepare my tinned corn in advance of fishing. I find this preparation and subsequent storage greatly improves the quality of the corn I use. I honestly believe that a well presented bait is only half the battle when fishing. The other half is credited to the quality of your bait.

Can you get maggots from your local tackle shops or do you have to breed your own? Noticed the bait regulations for the matches. very well thought out. Even with the limits on the English carp puddles it can get expensive for unsponsored anglers. You have to take your limit to be able to compete and when thats 8 pints of casters,2 tins of corn,1 kilo of dendras etc its to much.

agreed, I think even our tournaments hold somewhat of a high limit for bait. I never use nearly the amount of bait that I am allowed to bring.

What is your preference when it comes to ground baits ? Do you purchse the commercially packaged products or do you blend your own ? I myself prefere to blend my own. Yes call me a tight wad if you want, but I find nothing better than attracting and catching fish on something I have worked hard to prepare. Most of my ground bait preparation takes place during the winter months. I have a few blends that I like to prepare based on different venues and water conditions I will tackle throughout the year. Once my blends have been prepared they are all weghed out and packaged in ziplocs before being stored in large rubbermaid containers. This way I can preserve and protect my ground bait for several months without concern of insect infestation or mold.

During the blending of my own ground bait I like to add top soil or potting soil to the mix. This addition to the blends is similar to the addition of Leam. Top soil and potting soil as with leam when added to ground bait will accomplish one of a few things depending on how much and how it is blended. It can either be blended to act as a binder or blended to act as a clouding agent. or even as a colouring agent. In any event there it will not fill up the fish. There are a few things to remember when adding top soil or potting soil to your ground baits. First it must be finely sieved to remove all lumps coarse particle and other debris. Secondly it must be thoroughly dried to remove all moisture. Finally it must be once again sieved leaving a fine fine dust like material. Then and then only is it ready for blending.
